This product has been a Philosophy favorite for a while but I recently got it. Their website describes it as
"our award-winning daily facial skin cleanser is formulated to gently cleanse, tone and melt away all face and eye makeup in one simple step, while lightly hydrating the skin."
This product retails at between $10-$49.50, depending on the size. The 16 oz bottle, which is the size of their body washes, is $32. The reason I got it is because I can never fully remove my makeup, which is very bad for one's skin.
Here are my first impressions.
♥ It is a great makeup remover! For mascara, which is usually the hardest thing to remove, comes off well with this product, which was the biggest upside for me.
♥ As of now, it has not caused me to breakout. However, I should mention that I am not prone to breakouts, but this does feel like a gentle cleanser.
♥ The smell is good. It does not have a fragrance but a generic clean scent. Either way, it does not appear to last on the skin.
✖ This is not really a bad for everyone, but it does not seem to help with acne. It does not contain salicylic acid or benzoic acid, which are the most common acne fighting ingredients.
✖ It contains parabens, which are a common type of cosmetic preservative. It has been linked with cancer, but most cosmetic products and cleansers contain it, including Lush products. According to them, parabens are the mildest preservative, and it is very hard to avoid for a reasonable price.
The price is a bit steep and so far it does not seem worth it, but if you have sensitive skin, I would definitely recommend it. You can always try a small size and if it works well, get the bigger bottle. Additionally, I would purchase it when there is a discount at Philosophy.
